Jerry Weiss (musician)

Jerry Weiss (born March 1, 1946) is an American rock and roll, pop and jazz trumpet player and arranger. He is best known as an original founding member of the band Blood, Sweat & Tears.

Weiss began his career as a member of the New York City-based band The Tradewinds, later known as The Lost Generation. He co-founded Blood, Sweat & Tears in 1967, contributing significantly to the band's signature sound with his trumpet playing and arrangements. He played on their debut album, Child Is Father to the Man, before departing the group.

Following his departure from Blood, Sweat & Tears, Weiss pursued a successful career as a session musician. He has performed and recorded with a wide array of artists across various genres, including Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Lou Reed, and many others. He has also worked extensively in television and film, contributing his trumpet work to numerous soundtracks.

Throughout his career, Weiss has been recognized for his versatility and skill as a trumpet player and arranger. He continues to be an active musician, performing and recording in various musical contexts.
