David Stockman

David Stockman (born November 10, 1946) is an American politician and former businessman who served as a Republican U.S. Representative from Michigan and as Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) under President Ronald Reagan.

Stockman is known for his role in shaping Reagan's economic policies, dubbed "Reaganomics," particularly supply-side economics. As OMB Director, he played a key role in implementing tax cuts and attempting to control government spending. His views on these policies evolved over time, leading him to become a critic of the national debt and the fiscal policies of both Republican and Democratic administrations.

After leaving government, Stockman entered the private sector, working in investment banking and private equity. He has written extensively on economic and political issues, including the books The Triumph of Politics: Why the Reagan Revolution Failed and The Great Deformation: The Corruption of Capitalism in America. He is often critical of government intervention in the economy and the influence of special interests.
