Bocaue

Bocaue is a first-class urban municipality in the province of Bulacan, Philippines. It is located in the Central Luzon region, approximately 27 kilometers north of Manila.

History:

Bocaue's name is believed to be derived from the Tagalog word "Bokawe," referring to a type of bamboo commonly found in the area. The town was formally established in 1606 by Franciscan missionaries. It played a significant role during the Philippine Revolution against Spanish colonial rule.

Bocaue is situated in the southern part of Bulacan, bordered by the municipalities of Balagtas, Santa Maria, Marilao, and the province of Rizal. The municipality is generally flat, with the Bocaue River traversing through it.
