164th (North Lancashire) Brigade

The 164th (North Lancashire) Brigade was a formation of the British Army, part of the 55th (West Lancashire) Infantry Division, that served during both World War I and World War II. During World War I, it was composed primarily of Territorial Force battalions from the North Lancashire area. Its constituent units included battalions from regiments such as the King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment and the Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. The brigade saw action on the Western Front.

During World War II, the 164th Brigade served as part of the 55th Division and participated in home defense duties in the United Kingdom. Due to manpower shortages and a change in strategic focus, the 55th Division, including the 164th Brigade, was never deployed overseas in a fighting capacity during the Second World War. Its role primarily involved anti-invasion duties and training. Following the war, the Territorial Army was reformed, leading to changes in the structure and organization of units like the 164th Brigade.
