Battersea South (UK Parliament constituency)
Battersea South is a proposed constituency of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. It is due to be created for the next general election, which must be held no later than January 2025.
The constituency is being formed as a result of the 2023 Periodic Review of Westminster constituencies, conducted by the Boundary Commission for England. It will largely replace the current Battersea constituency, while incorporating a small area currently within the Putney constituency.
The proposed constituency encompasses the southern portion of the London Borough of Wandsworth, generally south of the railway line running from Clapham Junction to Queenstown Road. It includes areas such as Battersea Park, Clapham Common (southern section), and parts of Battersea itself.
The Boundary Commission's report detailing the changes to constituencies, including the creation of Battersea South, was finalized in 2023 and is awaiting implementation at the next general election. The existing Battersea constituency has historically been a marginal seat between the Labour and Conservative parties. The electoral prospects for the new Battersea South constituency are, as yet, uncertain.
