Rani mraz (album)
Rani mraz is the self-titled debut album by the Serbian and Yugoslav rock band Rani Mraz, released in 1979. The album is notable for being the only studio album released under the name Rani Mraz to feature both Đorđe Balašević and Biljana Krstić as members.
The album's musical style blends pop rock with elements of folk music, a style that would become increasingly associated with Balašević's later solo work. Key tracks from the album include "Računajte na nas" (Count on Us), which became a popular patriotic song and anthem for youth in Yugoslavia, and "U razdeljak te ljubim" (I Kiss Your Parting), a humorous and catchy pop tune. The album also features reinterpretations of traditional folk songs.
While Rani mraz wasn't a massive commercial success upon its initial release, it has since become recognized as a significant work in the Yugoslav rock and pop music scene, largely due to the popularity of its singles and the subsequent careers of its core members, particularly Đorđe Balašević. The album remains a nostalgic touchstone for many who grew up in Yugoslavia and is frequently re-released.
