Bob Smith (Australian politician)
Bob Smith was an Australian politician who served as a Senator for Western Australia from 1932 to 1935. He represented the Australian Labor Party (ALP).
Born in South Australia, Smith worked as a boilermaker before entering politics. He was active in the trade union movement and the Labor Party. His election to the Senate in 1931 was part of a broader Labor victory driven by the economic hardships of the Great Depression.
During his time in the Senate, Smith focused primarily on issues affecting Western Australia, including agricultural and mining concerns. He also participated in debates concerning unemployment relief and national economic policy.
Smith's term in the Senate was cut short when he was defeated at the 1934 federal election. He did not return to federal parliament. Information regarding his activities and career following his Senate term is limited.
