Zvečanje
Zvečanje (Serbian Cyrillic: Звечање) is a town and municipality located in the Mitrovica District in Kosovo. As of 2015, it has an estimated population of 7,336 inhabitants. The municipality is part of North Kosovo, a region predominantly inhabited by Serbs. Zvečanje is situated north of Mitrovica and is one of the municipalities that does not recognize the declaration of independence of Kosovo. The administrative center is the town of Zvečanje. Historically and culturally significant, the area is known for its medieval fortress and the Orthodox monastery of Zvečan, dating back to the 11th century. The economy is largely dependent on agriculture and small businesses, with some residents also employed in public services and institutions operating within the framework of Serbia. The political situation in Zvečanje, like the rest of North Kosovo, remains complex and is a subject of ongoing negotiations between Serbia and Kosovo under the auspices of international mediators. The ethnic composition is predominantly Serbian, with a small number of other communities present.
