George Ayres (cricketer)
George Ayres (born 23 February 1915, date of death unknown) was an English cricketer who played first-class cricket for Derbyshire in 1938 and 1939.
Ayres was born in Pinxton, Derbyshire. He made his debut for Derbyshire in the 1938 season in June against Leicestershire, when he scored 21 in his first innings. He played three more games in the season, with a top score of 32 against Essex. In the 1939 season he played five games, his best performance being 26 against Hampshire.
Ayres was a right-handed batsman and played 9 innings in 8 first-class matches with an average of 12.55 and a top score of 32. He was a right-arm medium-fast bowler and took one wicket for 41 runs.
