Bobby Dye
Bobby Dye (born Robert Allen Dye, 1937 - 2009) was an American college basketball coach. He is best known for his tenure as the head coach of the Cal State Bakersfield Roadrunners from 1973 to 1983 and the UC Riverside Highlanders from 1983 to 1996.
Dye achieved considerable success at Cal State Bakersfield, leading the Roadrunners to the NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Tournament on multiple occasions, and capturing the Division II National Championship in 1976 and 1979. He transitioned to UC Riverside in 1983 and coached the Highlanders for thirteen seasons. Although he didn't achieve the same level of national championship success at UC Riverside, he consistently built competitive teams within the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA).
Dye was respected within the basketball community for his coaching acumen and his commitment to developing student-athletes. He left a lasting legacy at both Cal State Bakersfield and UC Riverside, contributing significantly to the development of their respective basketball programs.
