Vaughn House (Little Rock, Arkansas)
The Vaughn House is a historic house located at 218 E. 16th Street in Little Rock, Arkansas. Built in 1891, it is a two-and-a-half story Queen Anne style residence notable for its asymmetrical massing, steeply pitched roofs, and varied surface textures. Specific features include a projecting corner tower with a conical roof, decorative spindlework, stained glass windows, and different types of siding materials such as clapboard and patterned shingles.
The house was built for Walter A. Vaughn, a prominent Little Rock businessman involved in real estate and lumber. The Vaughn family occupied the house for several decades.
The Vaughn House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975 for its architectural significance as a well-preserved example of Queen Anne style architecture in Little Rock. It represents a period of growth and prosperity for the city and reflects the architectural trends of the late 19th century.
