Veur-Lent

Veur-Lent (also sometimes spelled Veur Lent) is a neighborhood located in the city of Nijmegen, Netherlands. It is situated north of the Waal River, opposite the historic city center.

Veur-Lent is a relatively new area, primarily developed since the early 2000s. Its construction was part of a larger urban development project called "Ruimte voor de Waal" (Space for the Waal) designed to provide more space for the river to prevent flooding. This project involved moving the dike further inland, creating a new island in the river called the 'Waalstroom' (Waal Stream) and allowing for the development of residential and recreational areas in Veur-Lent.

The area is characterized by modern architecture, including apartments and single-family homes. It includes recreational spaces along the Waal River, such as beaches and walking paths. Veur-Lent is connected to the Nijmegen city center via the Waalbrug (Waal Bridge) and the Snelbinder bridge for cyclists and pedestrians. It is considered a desirable residential location due to its proximity to nature and the city center. The name "Veur-Lent" directly translates to "Before Lent" or "In Front of Lent" referencing its geographical location in relation to the older neighborhood of Lent.
