Zena, Oregon
Zena is an unincorporated community in Polk County, Oregon, United States. It is located approximately 6 miles (9.7 km) northwest of Salem, near the intersection of Oregon Route 22 and Zena Road NW.
Zena was named for the daughter of Benjamin Franklin Nichols, an early settler who arrived in the area in 1845. A post office was established in Zena in 1878 and operated until 1966.
The area surrounding Zena is primarily agricultural, with crops such as hazelnuts, grapes (supporting the Willamette Valley wine industry), and various field crops being common. The community itself is small and primarily residential. While it lacks a distinct commercial center, its proximity to Salem provides residents with access to a wider range of services and amenities.
Historically, Zena served as a local hub for the surrounding farming communities. While its role as a postal center is no longer active, the name "Zena" continues to identify the geographic area and remains in use for local roads and landmarks.
