Waupaca (town), Wisconsin
Waupaca is a city in Waupaca County, Wisconsin, United States. It is located along the Waupaca River and is the county seat. As of the 2020 census, the population was 6,282.
The city is known for its Chain O' Lakes, a series of interconnected lakes that offer recreational opportunities such as boating, fishing, and swimming. Waupaca also hosts the annual Waupaca Arts on the Square, an art fair held in August.
Historically, Waupaca developed as a mill town due to its location on the river. The area was originally inhabited by Native American tribes, including the Menominee. European-American settlement began in the mid-19th century. The city was officially incorporated in 1875.
Waupaca is served by U.S. Route 10 and Wisconsin State Highway 54. The city has a local airport, Waupaca Municipal Airport. The Waupaca School District operates public schools within the city.
