Cimber (airline)

Cimber Air was a Danish regional airline headquartered in Sønderborg, Denmark. It operated scheduled domestic and international flights, as well as charter services.

History: Cimber Air was founded in 1950 as Cimber Air Trading A/S by Ingolf Nielsen. Initially, the airline provided air taxi services and operated maintenance facilities. Scheduled flights commenced in 1969. Over the years, Cimber Air operated under various ownership structures and partnerships, including periods as a franchise partner of SAS Scandinavian Airlines.

Operations: At its peak, Cimber Air operated a fleet of regional jets, primarily focusing on routes within Denmark and to nearby European destinations. The airline's network connected regional Danish airports with larger hubs and offered connecting flights to international destinations.

Fleet: Cimber Air's fleet consisted of various aircraft types throughout its history, including but not limited to ATR 42/72 aircraft, Canadair Regional Jets (CRJ), and other regional airliners.

Destinations: Cimber Air primarily served destinations within Scandinavia and Northern Europe. Key destinations included Copenhagen, Billund, Sønderborg, and various cities in Germany, Norway, and Sweden.

Demise: Cimber Air ceased operations in 2012 after declaring bankruptcy. Its assets were acquired and integrated into other airline operations, primarily within the SAS Group.
