North (Chamber of Deputies of Luxembourg constituency)
The North constituency is one of four electoral constituencies in Luxembourg. It elects members to the Chamber of Deputies, Luxembourg's unicameral parliament.
Located in the northern part of the country, the North constituency encompasses the cantons of Clervaux, Diekirch, and Wiltz. Geographically, it covers the Ardennes region of Luxembourg, often referred to as the Éislek or Oesling.
The number of deputies elected from the North constituency is determined by its population size relative to the other three constituencies (Centre, East, and South). As of recent elections, the North constituency typically elects nine deputies.
Elections are held using a proportional representation system, allowing voters to cast ballots for individual candidates or for party lists. The d'Hondt method is used to allocate seats to political parties based on their share of the vote.
The North constituency tends to be more rural and conservative compared to the more urban Centre and South constituencies. This often influences the political representation elected from the region, with parties focused on agricultural issues and regional development often gaining significant support.
