Runaway Island (1982 film)

Runaway Island, also known as Gasshō Gakuen (合掌学園) in Japanese, is a 1982 Japanese adventure film directed by Satoshi Dezaki. The film is based on a novel by Lloyd Alexander, although it significantly deviates from the source material.

The story revolves around a group of children who are sent to a secluded boarding school for the summer. Cut off from the outside world, they discover a hidden island and a mysterious treasure. Their adventure leads them to uncover a conspiracy and test their courage and friendship.
