Pluto (Portuguese band)
Pluto was a Portuguese alternative rock band formed in 2004 in Montijo, Portugal. The band was composed of Manel Cruz (vocals, guitar), Peixe (guitar, keyboards), Miguel Guedes (bass) and Ruca (drums).
Pluto gained recognition for their distinctive sound, characterized by melodic songwriting, intricate arrangements, and Manel Cruz's distinctive vocal style and poetic lyrics, often exploring themes of introspection, love, and the human condition. They released two studio albums: "Bom Dia" (2004) and "Kitsune" (2006).
"Bom Dia" was well-received, establishing Pluto as a significant force in the Portuguese music scene. "Kitsune" further solidified their reputation, showcasing a more experimental and layered sound.
Despite their relatively short lifespan, Pluto left a lasting impact on Portuguese alternative music. Their music continues to be appreciated for its artistic depth and originality, influencing subsequent generations of musicians. Following Pluto's disbandment, the members pursued various solo projects and collaborations within the Portuguese music landscape. Manel Cruz, in particular, has enjoyed continued success as a solo artist.
