Bob Bradley (footballer)
Bob Bradley (born March 3, 1958) is an American soccer coach and former player. He is currently the manager of Stabæk in the Norwegian First Division.
Bradley is best known for his tenures as head coach of the United States men's national soccer team (USMNT) from 2006 to 2011, and as the first American to manage a team in a major European league, when he managed Swansea City in the English Premier League in 2016.
As a player, Bradley was a defender at Princeton University from 1976 to 1979. After graduating, he began his coaching career at Ohio University in 1981, followed by a stint as an assistant at the University of Virginia. He returned to Princeton as head coach in 1984, remaining there until 1995.
Bradley moved into professional coaching in 1996, becoming an assistant coach for D.C. United in Major League Soccer (MLS). He subsequently served as head coach for the Chicago Fire (1998-2002), MetroStars (2003-2005), and Chivas USA (2006).
During his time with the USMNT, Bradley led the team to the Round of 16 at the 2010 FIFA World Cup and to the final of the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup. He has also coached the Egyptian national team (2011-2013), Stabæk (2014-2015), Le Havre AC (2015-2016), Swansea City (2016), Los Angeles FC (2017-2021), and Toronto FC (2022-2023).
Bradley is recognized for his tactical flexibility and his ability to build strong team cultures. He holds a U.S. Soccer Federation "A" coaching license and is respected within the global soccer community for his dedication to the sport and his commitment to player development.
