Železník (horse)

Železník was a Thoroughbred racehorse born in 1987 in Czechoslovakia. He is considered one of the most successful racehorses in Czech and Slovak racing history. His name translates to "Iron Man" in English.

Železník was known for his incredible stamina and versatility, excelling in races ranging from middle distances to longer staying events. He achieved numerous victories in prestigious races across Central and Eastern Europe, including multiple wins in the Velká Pardubická Steeplechase, the most challenging and famous steeplechase in continental Europe.

He was trained by Josef Váňa, a legendary figure in steeplechasing, who also frequently rode him to victory. Their partnership became iconic and greatly contributed to Železník's fame.

Železník's racing career spanned several years, during which he consistently demonstrated exceptional jumping ability, speed, and determination. His successes brought considerable recognition to Czech and Slovak horseracing, and he remains a beloved and celebrated athlete in the region. After his racing career, he was retired to stud.
