NGC 5000

NGC 5000 is a barred spiral galaxy located approximately 270 million light-years away in the constellation Coma Berenices. It was discovered by French astronomer Édouard Stephan on April 11, 1885.

The galaxy is classified as a SBc type, indicating that it is a spiral galaxy (S) with a bar-shaped structure across its center (B) and loosely wound spiral arms (c). It is a member of the Coma Cluster, a large and dense cluster of galaxies containing thousands of individual galaxies.

NGC 5000 has a relatively low surface brightness, making it somewhat challenging to observe visually through smaller telescopes.
