Dauda (sultan)

Dauda was a sultan of Kano, a powerful Hausa city-state in what is now northern Nigeria. He reigned in the 18th century, specifically from approximately 1743 to 1753. His reign is documented in the Kano Chronicle, a historical record of the rulers of Kano. Sultan Dauda's reign is particularly noted for its relative peace and prosperity, a period of consolidation following earlier conflicts. He is remembered for his piety and just rule. Details of specific policies or military campaigns during his reign are limited within available historical sources, but his period of stability is frequently emphasized. He was succeeded by Kumbari dan Sharefa.
