Michael Kahn (film editor)
Michael Kahn (born December 8, 1930) is an American film editor with a career spanning over five decades. He is widely regarded as one of the most influential and accomplished film editors in Hollywood history, known for his long-standing collaboration with director Steven Spielberg.
Kahn has edited nearly all of Spielberg's films since Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977), including critically acclaimed and commercially successful blockbusters such as Raiders of the Lost Ark, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Jurassic Park, Schindler's List, Saving Private Ryan, Catch Me If You Can, Munich, Lincoln, Bridge of Spies, The Post, West Side Story and The Fabelmans.
His editing style is characterized by its precision, pacing, and ability to enhance the emotional impact of the story. He is particularly adept at creating suspense and excitement through strategic cuts and transitions.
Kahn has won three Academy Awards for Best Film Editing for his work on Raiders of the Lost Ark, Schindler's List, and Saving Private Ryan. He has also received five additional Oscar nominations. He is a recipient of the American Cinema Editors (ACE) Career Achievement Award.
