Gail Kane

Gail Kane (1885-1966) was an American stage and silent film actress. Born Abigail Kane in Laramie, Wyoming, she began her acting career on the stage, achieving notable success in productions such as "Arizona" and "The Nigger" (later retitled "The Governor's Lady").

Kane transitioned to silent films in the 1910s, quickly becoming a popular leading lady. She starred in a variety of dramas and romances, working with prominent actors and directors of the era. Some of her notable film credits include "Today" (1917), "The Scarlet Woman" (1916), a controversial film dealing with religious hypocrisy, and "The Web of Lies" (1916).

Kane's film career peaked in the late 1910s and early 1920s. While she remained active in the industry for several more years, her appearances gradually decreased. She made a few sound film appearances in the 1930s, but largely retired from acting. Gail Kane died in 1966. She is remembered for her contributions to the early era of American cinema.
