Zana (band)
Zana was a Yugoslav and Serbian pop and rock band, formed in Belgrade in 1980. The band achieved significant popularity throughout the 1980s and early 1990s.
History:
The band was founded by keyboardist Zoran Živanović "Kiki", guitarist Radovan Jovićević, vocalist Zana Nimani, bassist Bogdan Dragović, and drummer Aleksandar Ivanov. The band's initial sound was a blend of new wave and pop rock, influenced by the trends of the time.
Zana's self-titled debut album, released in 1982, was a success, launching them into the Yugoslav music scene. Subsequent albums solidified their popularity, featuring catchy melodies, memorable lyrics, and Zana Nimani's distinctive vocals. Their music often explored themes of love, relationships, and social commentary.
Through the 1980s, Zana released a series of successful albums, evolving their sound and experimenting with different musical styles. They toured extensively throughout Yugoslavia and gained a large following.
In the early 1990s, with the breakup of Yugoslavia and the ensuing conflicts, the band underwent changes. Zana Nimani left the band to pursue a solo career.
