Twilight Zone (pinball)
Twilight Zone is a widebody pinball machine designed by Pat Lawlor and released by Bally Manufacturing in 1993. It is based on the iconic anthology television series of the same name. The game is renowned for its complex ruleset, numerous playfield features, and immersive theme integration.
Key gameplay elements include the Powerball, a white ceramic ball which behaves differently than the standard steel balls and can activate special modes. The machine features a gumball machine, the "Gumball Award," that dispenses prizes and awards when certain conditions are met. Other notable features include the Power, Mystery, and Extra Ball modes, along with various multi-ball opportunities such as Lost in the Zone, Town Square Madness, and The Spiral Zone.
The playfield is characterized by its intricate layout, numerous ramps, and targets designed to evoke the surreal atmosphere of the Twilight Zone television show. Artwork throughout the machine draws directly from the series, incorporating familiar imagery and sound bites to create a cohesive and engaging experience for players. Twilight Zone is widely considered one of the greatest pinball machines ever made and is highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts.
