Scarlet Blade (video game)

Scarlet Blade, also known as Queen's Blade in some regions, was a free-to-play massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) developed by LivePlex and published by Aeria Games. The game was noted for its predominantly female cast of characters and its mature, often sexualized, content.

Scarlet Blade was set in a science fiction world where humanity fought against monstrous creatures known as the Narak. Players controlled Arkana, female soldiers genetically engineered to combat the Narak threat. Characters progressed through levels by completing quests, exploring the open world, and participating in player-versus-environment (PvE) and player-versus-player (PvP) combat.

The game featured a class system, with each class offering a distinct playstyle and set of abilities. Arkana could transform into powerful mecha suits, significantly enhancing their combat capabilities. Crafting, item enhancement, and social features like guilds were also present.

Scarlet Blade initially launched in South Korea in 2012 and was later released in North America and Europe. The game was eventually shut down in multiple regions, with Aeria Games discontinuing the North American and European versions in March 2016. The reason for closure cited by the publishers often referenced economic challenges and the cost of maintaining the game servers. While officially closed in most territories, private servers have reportedly existed, attempting to revive the game experience for dedicated fans.
