Jim Murphy (American football)
James "Jim" Murphy (born August 22, 1945) is a former American football player. He played as a linebacker in the National Football League (NFL) for five seasons, from 1967 to 1971.
Murphy was drafted by the New York Jets in the 10th round of the 1967 NFL Draft. He played for the Jets from 1967 to 1969, including on their Super Bowl III championship team in 1968.
In 1970, Murphy joined the Boston Patriots (later renamed the New England Patriots) and played with them for two seasons before retiring from professional football.
After his NFL career, Murphy pursued a career in business. He is known primarily for his time with the Jets and his participation in their Super Bowl victory.
