Decade (card game)

Decade is a shedding-type card game typically played with two to four players using a standard 52-card deck. The objective of the game is to be the first player to get rid of all of their cards.

Gameplay:

The game begins with the deck being shuffled and each player dealt a hand of ten cards. The number of cards dealt can be adjusted depending on player preference. After dealing, the remaining cards form the stock pile, and the top card of the stock pile is flipped over to begin the discard pile.

Players take turns playing cards from their hand onto the discard pile. A card can only be played if it is of the same rank or suit as the top card of the discard pile. For example, if the top card of the discard pile is the 7 of Hearts, a player could play any other 7 or any other Heart.

If a player cannot or chooses not to play a card, they must draw a card from the stock pile. If the stock pile is empty, the discard pile is shuffled (excluding the top card) to create a new stock pile.

Certain cards may have special actions. Common special cards include:

• Reverse: Changes the direction of play (clockwise to counter-clockwise or vice versa).
• Skip: Skips the next player's turn.
• Draw Two: Forces the next player to draw two cards.
• Wild Card: Can be played on any card and allows the player to choose the suit that must be played next.

Winning:

The first player to get rid of all the cards in their hand wins the game.

Variations:

There are many variations of Decade with different rules and special cards. These variations can change the strategy and complexity of the game. Common variations include using Jokers as wild cards, modifying the number of cards dealt, or altering the special card actions.
