Aaron Sanchez (baseball)
Aaron Sanchez (born July 1, 1992) is an American professional baseball pitcher. He has played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Toronto Blue Jays, Houston Astros, San Francisco Giants, and Washington Nationals.
Sanchez was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the first round (34th overall) of the 2010 Major League Baseball draft. He quickly ascended through the Blue Jays' minor league system, known for his hard sinker and curveball. He made his MLB debut in 2014 as a reliever.
In 2016, Sanchez transitioned to a starting role for the Blue Jays. He enjoyed a breakout season, posting a 15-2 record with a 3.00 ERA, leading the American League in ERA. He was selected to the MLB All-Star Game that year.
Following his successful 2016 season, Sanchez experienced several injury issues, particularly with blisters and finger issues, which hampered his performance and availability. He was traded to the Houston Astros in 2019. He later played for the San Francisco Giants and the Washington Nationals.
Sanchez is known for his sinkerball, which is his primary pitch. He also throws a curveball and a changeup. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated flashes of brilliance but has been significantly impacted by recurring injuries.
