Derek Armstrong (footballer)

Derek Armstrong (born October 5, 1967) is a former professional Canadian football player. He played as a placekicker and punter in the Canadian Football League (CFL) for twelve seasons.

Armstrong played college football at Simon Fraser University.

He was drafted by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the 1989 CFL Draft. Armstrong played for the Blue Bombers (1989-1993), the Edmonton Eskimos (1994-1997), and the Saskatchewan Roughriders (1998-2000). He was a member of the Blue Bombers' Grey Cup-winning team in 1990.

Throughout his CFL career, Armstrong was known for his strong leg and consistency in both placekicking and punting duties. Statistics for his career include a field goal percentage around 70% and a punting average exceeding 40 yards per punt.
