Baird baronets of Urie (1897)

The Baird Baronetcy, of Urie in the County of Kincardine, was a title in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom. It was created on 8 March 1897 for Alexander Baird, a Scottish ironmaster and philanthropist. He was a member of the prominent Baird family, well-known for their involvement in the iron industry, particularly through William Baird and Company.

The first baronet, Alexander Baird, was the son of James Baird, himself a significant figure in the family business. Alexander was educated at Cambridge University and served as a Deputy Lieutenant of Kincardineshire.

The title became extinct upon the death of the 4th Baronet, Sir David Christopher Baird, on 29 May 1989. He had no male heir.

The Baird family of Urie is associated with Urie House, located near Stonehaven in Aberdeenshire (historically Kincardineshire). While the baronetcy is extinct, the Baird name continues in other branches of the family, some of whom have held other titles.
