Web Therapy (TV series)
Web Therapy is an American comedy web series and later television series starring Lisa Kudrow, created by Kudrow, Don Roos, and Dan Bucatinsky. The series follows Fiona Wallice (Kudrow), a self-proclaimed therapist who believes she has found a better, more efficient way to treat patients: three-minute online therapy sessions.
Fiona, with no real expertise or qualifications in psychology, initially tries to launch "Web Therapy" as a legitimate therapeutic tool. However, her own narcissistic tendencies and disinterest in actually helping people often lead to disastrous and hilarious results for her clients. The episodes typically feature improvisational dialogue between Kudrow and a guest star, often playing one of her patients or colleagues.
The web series originally premiered on LStudio.com, Showtime's online platform, in 2008. Due to its popularity, it was later adapted into a television series which premiered on Showtime in 2011 and ran for four seasons. The television version expanded upon the web series format, introducing ongoing storylines and recurring characters beyond the therapy sessions themselves. Key recurring cast members include Victor Garber, Alan Cumming, and Jennifer Elise Cox.
