Nikhef

Nikhef, the Dutch National Institute for Subatomic Physics, is a research institute in the Netherlands. It performs research in particle physics and astroparticle physics. Nikhef is a collaboration between the Dutch Research Council (NWO) and several Dutch universities, including the University of Amsterdam, the VU University Amsterdam, the University of Groningen, the Radboud University Nijmegen, the University of Twente and Utrecht University.

The institute's research focuses on understanding the fundamental constituents of matter and the forces that govern their interactions. This involves participating in and contributing to large international experiments at facilities such as CERN's Large Hadron Collider (LHC), as well as developing new detector technologies and advanced computing infrastructure for data analysis.

Nikhef also plays a role in outreach and education, aiming to promote public understanding of science and inspire the next generation of physicists. This includes public lectures, educational programs for students, and participation in science festivals. The institute is located at Science Park Amsterdam.
