Joseph Barss (ice hockey)

Joseph Barss (born July 4, 1983) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman.

Barss played major junior hockey in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) with the Chicoutimi Saguenéens and the Rimouski Océanic. He was drafted by the New Jersey Devils in the 5th round (159th overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.

After completing his junior career, Barss turned professional and played primarily in the American Hockey League (AHL) and ECHL. He played for the Albany River Rats, Lowell Devils, Trenton Titans, and Wheeling Nailers in North America. He also spent time playing in Europe, including stints in Germany's Oberliga with the EV Füssen, and in the United Kingdom's Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL) with the Braehead Clan.

Barss was known for his defensive style of play. He retired from professional hockey in the mid-2010s.
