Jewel (Marcella Detroit album)
Jewel is the third solo studio album by American singer-songwriter Marcella Detroit, released in 1994 on MCA Records. The album followed Detroit's departure from the duo Shakespears Sister.
The album features a blend of pop, rock, and soul influences, showcasing Detroit's distinctive vocals and songwriting abilities. While Jewel did not achieve the same level of commercial success as Shakespears Sister's Hormonally Yours, it was critically well-received, with many praising its diverse sound and Detroit's introspective lyrics.
Singles released from Jewel include "I Believe," "Perfect World," and "Somebody's Mother." The album explores themes of love, loss, personal growth, and spirituality. The production credits include Detroit herself, as well as other notable producers.
