John Bear (politician)
John Bear (born c. 1950) is a former Canadian politician. He served as a Progressive Conservative member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario representing the riding of Kenora from 1995 to 1999.
Prior to entering provincial politics, Bear was involved in municipal government and business in northwestern Ontario. In the 1995 Ontario general election, he defeated Liberal incumbent Frank Miclash by a significant margin as part of Mike Harris's Common Sense Revolution.
During his term in the legislature, Bear served on various committees, including those related to natural resources and economic development. He was generally considered a backbencher and a strong supporter of the Harris government's policies.
In the 1999 Ontario general election, Bear was defeated by Liberal candidate and future cabinet minister, Sarah Campbell. Following his defeat, he largely retired from public life. Information on his activities after leaving provincial politics is scarce.
