The Man (Bill Drummond album)
The Man is a 1986 studio album by Scottish musician Bill Drummond, released after the dissolution of his band The KLF (then known as The Justified Ancients of Mu Mu). It is Drummond's first solo album.
The album is a folk-influenced collection of songs exploring themes of masculinity, nostalgia, and disillusionment. It features acoustic instrumentation and introspective lyrics delivered in Drummond's distinctive vocal style. The album was released by Creation Records, and failed to chart upon its initial release.
While not commercially successful, The Man has gained a cult following over the years, praised for its honesty and emotional depth. It offers a contrast to Drummond's later, more overtly experimental and confrontational work with The KLF. Some critics consider it a precursor to the alternative country genre. The album has been reissued on several occasions, further solidifying its reputation as a significant, if often overlooked, work in Drummond's discography.
