Woe (band)

Woe is an American black metal band formed in 2007 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Known for its aggressive, yet melodic and atmospheric sound, Woe has become a significant act in the USBM (United States Black Metal) scene. The band's music often explores themes of misanthropy, urban decay, and existential dread.

The band was founded by Chris Grigg, who serves as the primary songwriter, vocalist, and guitarist. Over the years, Woe has seen several lineup changes, but Grigg has remained the central figure and creative force.

Woe has released several full-length albums, including A Spell for the Death of Man (2008), Quietly, Undramatically (2010), Withdrawal (2013), Hope Attrition (2017), and Legacies of Frailty (2024). Their discography also includes EPs and splits with other black metal acts.

The band is known for its intense live performances and has toured extensively throughout North America and Europe, sharing the stage with prominent bands in the black metal and extreme metal genres.
