Jean de Bourbon (monk)

Jean de Bourbon (c. 1429 – 1488) was a French Benedictine monk. He was a member of the House of Bourbon, a cadet branch of the royal Capetian dynasty.

Born an illegitimate son of Charles I, Duke of Bourbon, and Jeanne de Souldet, Jean entered the Benedictine order at the Abbey of Cluny. He rose to become Abbot of Cluny in 1485, serving until his death in 1488. During his tenure as abbot, he continued the work of reforming the Cluniac order and oversaw building projects at the abbey. He was a prominent figure in religious life during the reign of Charles VIII of France.
