Victoria (motorcycle)

Victoria was a German motorcycle manufacturer that existed from 1901 until 1966. Originally based in Nuremberg, the company started as a bicycle manufacturer before transitioning to producing motorcycles.

Early Years & Engines:

In its early years, Victoria used proprietary engines sourced from other manufacturers, including Fafnir and Zedel. These early machines were generally robust and reliable, contributing to the brand's initial success.

Post-WWI Innovation:

After World War I, Victoria gained recognition for its innovative engine designs. They are particularly known for their horizontally opposed twin-cylinder engines, which offered a smooth and reliable riding experience. The "Bergmeister" model, launched in the 1950s, showcased this engine type.

Merger & Decline:

In 1958, Victoria merged with DKW and Express to form Zweirad Union. The Victoria name continued to be used on some models within the Zweirad Union lineup, but production was eventually discontinued in 1966.
