Jon Davis (poet)
Jon Davis (born 1955) is an American poet and educator. He is recognized for his accessible yet intellectually stimulating poetry, often exploring themes of nature, family, spirituality, and the everyday experiences of American life.
Davis earned his BA from Goddard College and his MFA from the University of Montana. He has taught creative writing at various institutions, including the Institute of American Indian Arts, the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, and, most notably, the Pacific University Low-Residency MFA program, where he has been a long-standing faculty member.
Davis's poetry is characterized by its conversational tone, careful observation, and thoughtful engagement with contemporary issues. His work often incorporates elements of narrative and lyricism, creating a distinctive and engaging poetic voice. He is known for his use of both free verse and more structured forms, demonstrating versatility in his craft.
