Autosurf
Autosurf is a type of online program or service that automatically browses a series of websites, typically for the purpose of generating traffic or earning advertising credits. The user typically installs a software application or uses a web-based platform that cycles through websites without the user's active participation.
Autosurf programs are often associated with Pay-to-Surf (PTS) schemes, where users are compensated in some form (e.g., cash, points redeemable for prizes, or advertising credits) for viewing websites. The value of this compensation is generally very low.
The websites displayed in autosurf programs are usually advertising sites, and the objective is to inflate website traffic and artificially increase the perceived value of advertising space. This can be achieved by falsely representing the number of views or clicks a website receives.
Many advertising networks and website owners discourage or explicitly prohibit traffic originating from autosurf programs, as it is often considered invalid or low-quality traffic. This is because users are often not genuinely interested in the content being displayed and are simply allowing the program to run for the sake of earning rewards.
The use of autosurf programs can violate the terms of service of some websites and advertising platforms. Furthermore, the practice of generating artificial traffic can be considered a form of click fraud, depending on the specific implementation and intent. In some cases, using autosurf programs can even expose users to malicious websites or software.
