Abedin (crater)

Abedin is a lunar impact crater located on the far side of the Moon. It lies in the southern hemisphere, to the southeast of the larger crater Lewis and northeast of the crater Roberts.

The crater is roughly circular with a well-defined rim. The interior walls slope down to a relatively flat floor. Abedin shows evidence of some slumping along the inner walls, and there are a few small craterlets on the floor. It does not display a central peak.

The age of Abedin is likely Nectarian or Early Imbrian, based on its position relative to other lunar features and its morphology. Its coordinates are approximately 33.7° S latitude and 123.6° E longitude, and its diameter is about 164 kilometers. The crater is named after the Bangladeshi scientist, Zainal Abedin.
