Wang Yong (politician)

Wang Yong (王勇) (born December 1955) is a Chinese politician and senior government official. He currently serves as a Vice Chairperson of the 13th National People's Congress Standing Committee.

Career:

Wang Yong's early career was primarily focused on quality control and industrial administration. He held various positions within the State Administration for Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ). He served as Vice Minister of AQSIQ before becoming its Minister in 2008.

In 2010, Wang Yong was appointed State Councilor, a high-ranking position in the State Council, the executive branch of the Chinese government. As State Councilor, he oversaw various sectors, including state-owned enterprise reform, environmental protection, and disaster relief.

In 2013, Wang Yong was further appointed as a member of the State Council Leading Group for Poverty Alleviation and Development. This role highlighted his involvement in the national poverty reduction strategy.

He was elected as a Vice Chairperson of the 13th National People's Congress Standing Committee in 2018, a position he currently holds.

Background and Education:

Wang Yong was born in Gaizhou, Liaoning Province. He graduated from the Harbin Institute of Technology, majoring in precision instruments. He is of Han ethnicity.
