The Thorns (band)
The Thorns were an American country rock supergroup formed in 2002. The band consisted of Matthew Sweet, Pete Droge, and Shawn Mullins.
They released their self-titled debut album, The Thorns, in 2003 on Aware Records. The album was noted for its blend of harmonies, acoustic instrumentation, and songwriting influences from artists such as The Eagles, Crosby, Stills & Nash, and The Byrds.
The single "Runaway Feeling" was a minor hit for the band. While the album received positive reviews and generated some commercial success, the band members ultimately decided to pursue their individual careers.
The Thorns dissolved after the release and subsequent tour for The Thorns. Each member returned to his solo work. Despite only releasing one album, The Thorns are remembered for their contribution to the early 2000s alt-country scene and the strong vocal harmonies showcased on their debut.
