Sviatoshyn (Kyiv Metro)
Sviatoshyn (Ukrainian: Святошин, pronounced [sʲʋʲɐtoˈʃɪn]) is a station on the Sviatoshynsko-Brovarska Line (Line 1) of the Kyiv Metro. It is located in the Sviatoshyn Raion of Kyiv, near the intersection of Peremohy Avenue and Sviatoshynska Street.
The station was opened on November 5, 1971, as part of the first segment of the Sviatoshynsko-Brovarska Line. It is named after the historic Sviatoshyn neighborhood, which predates the establishment of the Kyiv Metro.
Sviatoshyn is a shallow-level station with a column tri-span design. The platform is accessed via surface-level vestibules with stairs and escalators. Originally designed with simple, utilitarian architecture typical of early Soviet metro stations, Sviatoshyn underwent a significant renovation in 2018-2019, resulting in a more modern and aesthetically pleasing interior.
The station serves as an important transportation hub for residents of the Sviatoshyn district and surrounding areas, providing access to other parts of Kyiv. The area around the station is characterized by residential buildings, commercial establishments, and transportation links, including bus and tram routes. It is also a key access point for travel to the adjacent suburban areas west of Kyiv.
