Table Mountain (Wyoming)
Table Mountain is a prominent mesa located in the Teton Range of Wyoming, United States. It is situated on the western side of the range, rising sharply from the valley floor of Teton Basin. The mountain derives its name from its characteristically flat, table-like summit.
The peak provides commanding views of the Grand Teton, as well as other peaks in the Teton Range, and offers a popular, albeit strenuous, hiking route to its summit. The most common trail originates from the Teton Canyon Trailhead and involves a substantial elevation gain, typically requiring a full day of hiking. The trail traverses diverse terrain, including forests, meadows, and rocky slopes.
Due to its location and elevation, Table Mountain is subject to variable weather conditions. Snow can persist on the mountain well into the summer months. Hikers should be prepared for rapidly changing conditions and exercise caution, particularly near the steep cliffs surrounding the summit plateau. The views from the summit are considered a significant reward for the challenging ascent.
