Pacific Gas and Electric (album)
Pacific Gas and Electric is the self-titled debut album by the American blues rock band Pacific Gas & Electric. It was released in 1969 on Kent Records. The album is notable for showcasing the band's early blues-oriented sound, featuring covers of blues standards as well as original compositions. Key tracks include covers of songs by artists like Muddy Waters and Willie Dixon. The album's release helped to establish Pacific Gas & Electric within the burgeoning late 1960s music scene, preceding their later, more commercially successful, albums. The band's lineup at the time of this recording included Charlie Allen on vocals and guitar, Tom Marshall on bass, Glenn Schwartz and later Joe Sample on guitar, and Brent Block on drums. While not as well-known as their subsequent work, the album provides an important glimpse into the band's roots and initial musical direction.
