Serdobsk
Serdobsk is a town and the administrative center of Serdobsky District in Penza Oblast, Russia. It is located on the Serdoba River, 111 kilometers (69 mi) southwest of Penza, the administrative center of the oblast.
History:
Founded in 1699 as a settlement (sloboda) of Serdobinskaya Sloboda to protect the southeastern borders of Russia, it was granted town status in 1780 and renamed Serdobsk. The town developed as a trade center for agricultural products from the surrounding region.
Geography:
Serdobsk is situated in the Volga Upland, characterized by rolling hills and forests. The Serdoba River flows through the town.
Administrative and Municipal Status:
Within the framework of administrative divisions, Serdobsk serves as the administrative center of Serdobsky District. As a municipal division, the town of Serdobsk is incorporated within Serdobsky Municipal District as Serdobsk Urban Settlement.
Economy:
